The Prairie Warbler reported by the Hamilton Naturalists on Friday was easily
seen today.
Between Valens Rd and Westover Rd on Flamborough Conc 6W, there is a
transmission line.

Walking north under this line was very pleasant. It was a good open trail with
no ticks or biting insects.

First we encountered a singing Grasshopper Sparrow then a Blue-winged Warbler.
After about 500m there is a major EW clearing. Another two transmission poles
beyond there was a singing Prairie Warbler high on a bush on the east side.
This
was at 9AM today. Let's hope this is the start of a new colony because this
species can no longer be seen at Long Point..
Later, unable to find the Millgrove Loam Pits, we continued to Eastport Dr
where
we saw the White Pelican on the most northerly of the islands extending north
from CCIW.

The warbler and the pelican were life birds for Alvan Buckley and his girl
friend Mira.
