Update on the Peregrine Falcons in downtown Pontiac, Michigan. I know this is not in Ontario, but birds don't see national borders, and most important I think you will find this interesting. Our intrepid Peregrines had a successful nesting in the hack box at the AT&T tower. They had spent the entire winter and then set up housekeeping in the hack box this spring. We watched first one fuzzy white head begin peaking out, then a second, followed by a third. On Monday the last born left the hack box, a male, took off on his first flight. There are two females and one male and all are doing well. Please be aware that if you go to see the birds that they are frequently on the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital (POH). This can present some problems with the hospital security guards. There are numerous federal laws protecting the privacy of patients and some of the guards seem to think that anyone with a camera and/or binoculars must be violating these laws. I work at the hospital and have done my best to educate them about birders, but even after you tell them you are there to see the birds they may tell you to leave. Please just quietly cooperate as it will create more problems if you do not and we wish to respect the patients rights. Carl A. Pascoe & Rachel A.
