I've been spending most mornings from about 8am to 10am at Malden Park in Windsor. There's usually a Great Blue Heron there, numerous Green Herons and 4 Black Crowned Night Herons (3 Males and one Female), but today I got a special treat when I noticed a Yellow Crowned Night Heron! I honestly didn't know what it was at first, as I've only really studied birds that are common to the area, but having photos to confirm it in my bird book, it was for sure what I saw. Malden park is located on Malden road. Take Huron Church to Malden (Malden only goes one way......the other side has is "Northway"), continue around bend......entrance to park is on the right. Follow path (the one that continues from the entrance driveway behind the yellow "no vehicles past this point" gate). Found the yellow-crowned (twice) at the end of that path in the large pond at the back corner.
Happy birding everyone. Karen Morgan - Windsor. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization. Send bird reports to [email protected] For information about ONTBIRDS visit http://www.ofo.ca/
