Ontbirders, There is a alternate adult Eared Grebe in the large cell of the Tavistock Lagoons, associating with Ruddy Ducks. Of the eight or so records we have [here in Oxford] all have been in sewage lagoons and several have been in this late May / early June period.
The main lagoon level is high so shorebirding was blah.......18 Dunlin, 5 Semi Sand and I Ruddy Turnstone. The smaller cells are currently under construction, so stay to the perimeter of the big cell, outside the fence is likely best. To reach the lagoons, take Hwy 59 north of Woodstock to Maplewood Sideroad. Continue east to the 14th Line, go north [about 2 km] to the old RR tracks and walk in to the north-west -- the lagoons are visible from the RR line. There are easier ways to get in but [with construction] it is best to take the long way.
