I spent a few hrs at the Bay today. Two male scarlet tanagers were present on the Martin Goodman Trail (or the southern tip of the bay), but they only made a brief visit. A female was present on the southwestern part of the bay for 3 hrs and seemed quite content to hang around and to give great views. She was anywhere from 5 to 10 feet off the ground and made a habit of perching on branches to give an unobstructed view.
Also present was the eastern wood-pewee, who was flying around the small trees just south of the parking lot. It was there for at least 1 hour. Otherwise, it was really quiet. Also observed: common yellowthroat, yellow warbler, magnolia warbler (3), wren (haven't had time to ID it yet, but its making a home on the dirt path where the harbour starts), chestnut-sided warbler and possibly a veery (ID pending...haven't had time to go through my pictures). As usual, I'll post photos at my flickr account some time today ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/mrsharp-photo/) if you want to take a look at what I saw. Good luck! I assume tonight will bring better yields than this morning! www.mr.sharp-photo.com Ashbridges Bay is located where Coxwell and Lake Ontario meet. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
