Hello Ontbirders Larry Neily and I found a Yellow-throated Vireo (YTVI) today (Friday) at about 12:45 PM in the woodlot north-west of the Tunney's Pasture government complex. This is the woodlot that is well known among Ottawa birders for having hosted a Prothonotary Warbler a few springs ago. The YTVI was active and therefore relatively conspicuous (leaves are not yet fully out) but did not sing.
Directions: From 417 west, take Island Park exit north to Clearview (one intersection south of the Ottawa River Parkway). Turn right on Clearview, then left on Patricia and right on Pontiac. There should be plenty of places to park but beware of any restrictions. About half-way between Patricia and Keyworth on the north side of Pontiac there is an opening in the fence with a short trail heading north beyond. Take this trail and you will cross a wide trail going east-west after a few metres and, after a few more metres, a second much narrower east-west trail. The vireo was between the two east-west trails on the east side of the north-south trail. It appeared to be slowly heading eastwards (in a leisurely and roundabout fashion).
