Good evening Ontbirders, Our final tally of warblers at Rondeau today was an impressive 31 species plus one hybrid. Highlights not mentioned in my earlier post included a late Pine Warbler on South Point Trail, a Hooded on South Point Trail, a Mourning on Spicebush Trail and a Brewster's on Spicebush Trail. The Yellow-throated Warbler was seen at the Visitor Centre up to at least 1:25 pm.
Songbirds of interest this afternoon included a Clay-colored Sparrow in the Visitor Centre garden / feeder area. We saw a late Hermit Thrush as well as a number of recently-arrived Swainson's Thrushes on my afternoon hike (during the downpour!) on Spicebush Trail. This trail was a hive of activity for much of the day, despite the inclement weather. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please join the Friends of Rondeau for 'An Evening in the Forest' on Saturday May 14 at 7:30 pm. Peter Middleton will present 'Garden & Birds'. Coffee & dessert will be served after the presentation. Tickets are $10 a person and all proceeds are used to support birding activities in Rondeau.
