A female Summer Tanager was observed at Cape Hurd just after dinner
this evening. The bird was seen for several minutes, much of it at or
near eye level in small trees over standing water. The views through
binoculars at about 10m were definitive, with very large bill, no
black on the wings, and slight crest. This is a first record for this
species at Cape Hurd.

Cape Hurd, near Tobermory, Ontario, is ideally situated at the
northwestern tip of the Bruce Peninsula for sightings of spring and
fall migrants, accidentals, and rarities. Follow Highway #6 north
from Owen Sound, Ontario about ~1.5 hour to Tobermory, where there are
several good bird watching areas.
