Ontbirders:
The Eurasian Wigeon was seen again today at 2:30 pm in Laurel Creek reservoir.
It was in a small inlet not visible from the bridge or the viewing tower so it
was necessary to walk along the trail past the tower to the edge of the inlet
to view it.

Subject: [Ontbirds] Eurasian Wigeon in Waterloo

Ken Burrell just phoned to say that he just found a male Eurasian Wigeon at
Laurel Creek reservoir in Waterloo. This is the first record for the region in
a very long time and likely only the second record ever. Also present was a
single white Snow/Ross's Goose(Ken figured Snow but hadn't been able to rule
out Ross's when I talked to him). The Eurasian Wigeon was near the Osprey
platform visible from Beaver Creek Drive.

Directions:

>From hwy 85 take the Northfield Drive exit and head west. Turn right at the
>lights at Westmount and take the left at Conservation Drive. Follow this over
>to Beaver Creek Road and head left (south). You can park on the side of the
>road just before or after the bridge over the creek. The bird was viewed from
>the bridge but there is also an observation tower south of the bridge on the
>east side of the road.

Good luck,
Mike Burrell
