Ken Burrell just phoned to say that he just found a male Eurasian Wigeon at Laurel Creek reservoir in Waterloo. This is the first record for the region in a very long time and likely only the second record ever. Also present was a single white Snow/Ross's Goose(Ken figured Snow but hadn't been able to rule out Ross's when I talked to him). The Eurasian Wigeon was near the Osprey platform visible from Beaver Creek Drive.
Directions: >From hwy 85 take the Northfield Drive exit and head west. Turn right at the >lights at Westmount and take the left at Conservation Drive. Follow this over >to Beaver Creek Road and head left (south). You can park on the side of the >road just before or after the bridge over the creek. The bird was viewed from >the bridge but there is also an observation tower south of the bridge on the >east side of the road.
