A great morning along the Speed River north of Woodlawn Rd in Guelph. After hearing parts of what I was sure were Winter Wrens, One flew very close and was feeding actively for several minutes. A pair of Rusty Blackbirds in breeding plumage did the same. A pair of Common Mergansers floated into view and flew downstream upon seeing me. Bonus – at least one mink running and swimming on the west shore for at least 15 minutes. Sitting and standing still, and being alone, probably allowed this particularly intense experience.
