Hello Friends.
The Tundra Swans are congregating Just behind the
Lambton County Museum. Several Thousand already. Not many ducks.

There is a problem--The Swans will tolerate vehicles but NOT people.

If you get out of your car, the Swans will move away.

All morning folks were getting out of their vehicles and the Swans were
responding by flying away!

When the Ministry of Natural Resources people are there it is OK to walk along
the road. However if you get close to Tundra Swans and get out of the vehicle
you will disturb the birds. That is a big No No!. Charges have been laid in
previous years against folks that want to walk up the birds or drive down the
tracks towards them.

The good folks that got back into their cars this morning were told where there
were Swans really close to the road to photograph.

The Swans will tolerate a vehicle but not a pedestrian .

They are wild birds and not those tame swans that are imported from Europe.

Hints about flight Photography.
 1) Early morning or late afternoon are the best times. That is when they are
coming from the Lake to feed or returning to roost at night.
 2) Blue skies and not clouds are a desired background. (A gray sky with a
white swan makes a poor photo)
 3) Find an area where the swans are flying over the road and get into a place
where you can photograph them with the sun behind you. If you move they will
see you and change course to avoid you!.

Respectfully.

Alf Rider.
