This morning I had a Barrow's Goldeneye in the Ottawa River at Petrie Island. He was hanging out with Common Goldeneyes. There were also some Common Mergansers. A little later I had a Northern Shrike in a small grove of trees just south of the corner of Trim Road and Springridge Drive.
Directions: Take the Queensway (174) east from Ottawa to Trim Road. Turn left for Petrie Island. Turn right and drive a bit to Springridge Drive (the southern intersection; it's a bay). If you reach Innes Road, you've gone too far. -- Marc ---------------------- my terrible but slowly improving bird photos: https://picasaweb.google.com/stongey _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
