The first-year male King Eider is still in Cobourg harbour this morning,
Friday March 4. The ice is melting and at 10 am today it was feeding on the
harbour side of the east pier out of sight of the main west parking lot but
easily visible from the short middle pier. I would still park in the (free)
west parking lot but walk out on the middle pier for best viewing. In spite
of the forecast temperatures, the wind is still very cold.
Southeast winds have blown the ice into the northwest corner of the harbour
and there are hundreds of gulls there, including a nice adult Glaucous and
two or three adult Icelands. This ice seems to be fast disappearing though.

Directions:
Take Exit 474 from Hwy.401, south on Division Street to the harbour, drive
around to the large west parkinglot.
