Male Harlequin Duck (not full adult) just flew in east side of pier at Whitby Harbour.
Charlie Adey and I are looking for a possible Slaty-backed Gull that Geoff Carpentier called me about earlier. We saw a dark mantled gull slightly larger than Herring but it was too far out to assess properly. There are hundreds of gulls including Kumlien's Gulls, sitting on ice flows. Directions Brock St exit in Whitby from 401 go south to lake and walk out pier.
