This afternoon at 3:30 after a 3 hour search, I finally found the King Eider Male in adult plumage as previously reported. It was alone within a large flock of Common Mergansers, in the Welland Canal on the Welland Canal Trail. Directions: QEW St. Catharines, take Ontario St exit, turn left/north towards Lake Ontario. Ontario St, turns into Lakeshore Rd. Continue straight through the lights onto Lakeshore Rd. until you cross the bridge over the Welland Ship Canal. Search for the sign that says"Seaway Haulage Road," turn left onto this road. Park at the end of Seaway Haulage Rd, and take the George Nicholson Trail on the left side. Search the canal along the trail for the King Eider. It has also been reported on the Yacht club side of Seaway Haulage Road. Bundle up,. It's freezing along there. Good luck.........................
