After about an hour of waiting today we gave up on the Varied Thrush, assuming
perhaps that it has moved on. Certainly Elmer and Bev Ewert have been stellar
hosts to the birding community and we are grateful to have seen this bird twice
in December. Birders are still welcome to park in their driveway and there is
an agreeable mix of birds at the feeders and in the trees, including a very
cooperative Red-bellied Woodpecker. Other species we saw today included
American Tree Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, Hairy Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker,
American Crow, Mourning Dove, White-breasted Nuthatch, Northern Cardinal and
Blue Jay. On other occasions we have seen Wild Turkey there.

Directions: Hwy 401 to Hwy 8 north to Hwy 85 north. Exit at Northfield Road and
proceed west to Weber Street, go north to Benjamin Road and turn left. After
about 5 km you will arrive at Kressler Rd; turn left and then right onto Weimar
Line. The house is at 3218 Weimar Line.
