Not a great rarity, but nice to look for if you're in the area...a
Rough-legged Hawk in the dark phase perched in a medium sized tree on the
south side of 14th Avenue a few hundred metres west of Markham Road (HWY 48)
before noon, Friday. An American Kestrel was in this area yesterday, and on
the 9th Line and Highway 407 two flying Red-tailed Hawks interacting with
each other (a will-be breeding pair?) and, on the same day, a Cooper's Hawk
took a House Sparrow in back of my house (near the same corner).
