Weather: Another slowww day. The weather was much better today, no humidity, sun, clear skies, SW wind, up a bit but better than last three days of E and/or SE. but the birds didn't notice. Raptor Observations: Another small flight with just 15 birds observed on the move...mostly Redtails (11) and a lone Roughleg. Just singles of Sharpie, Coop and Harrier. Non-raptor Observations: While searching the skies for raptors, observers had a nice view of a GREAT BLUE HERON, 2 large (60+) flocks of TUNDRA SWANS, a few HORNED LARKS and singles of COMMON LOON and WOOD DUCK. Also noticeable again today were large flocks of AMERICAN CROWS including one flock at least 200 strong -- heading SE! In the "butterfly field" near the Cliff, were numerous WHITE-THROATED & TREE SPARROWS along with a very cheerful flock of EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, and a flyby of CEDAR WAXWINGS. Now that the trees and bushes are almost bare, lots of interesting things are visible, such as the bald-faced wasp nest found today at the north end of the "butterfly field". ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
