Seen in Port Hope near the mouth of the Ganaraska River. I didn't know what it was until I got home to check my field guide. Definitely a Black back. I didn't seem to me to be as large as the guide describes, but definitely a Black back. It was feeding with the other gulls.
Directions: Take 401 to the Ontario St. Exit. Go South on Ontario St. to Mill St. Left fork on Mill St. Follow Mill St. until you come to the the stop light where #2 Hwy goes East and Dorset Street goes West. Turn left on Dorset St. to cross the river to the stop sign. Turn left at the stop sign and watch for the waterfowl in the river. There is a large rather bumpy area where you can park.
