Observation start time: 10:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Rob Payne

Observers: John Elliott, Patrick Mulawa, Rodney Laura

Weather:
A very comfortable day to be outside, full sun all day with very little
wind. Temperatures topped off at 55f. Winds started from the south but
swung east around noon, and averaged only 4mph.

Raptor Observations:
Today was a confusing disappointment, perhaps it was too nice outside.
Would you leave a vacation early if the weather was good? This is just a
guess, but the best we could come up with. We need a good storm system from
the east or north to convince the birds to continue. We did have a single
adult Golden Eagle come through at 11:30am, as well as a single light morph
Rough-legged Hawk.

A total of 18 raptors were counted of 7 species.

Non-raptor Observations:
It was surprisingly quiet even for the other birds. Rusty Blackbirds are
still everywhere you look, as are Golden-crowned Kinglets. About 100
American Crows came through today. Another dozen or so Tundra Swans were
seen flying in from the north.

Predictions:
Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer than today, and we get to keep our
sunshine. Right now there is a large storm front in New England. Hopefully
the western excess of that storm pushes some of their birds our direction.
If that goes as we would like it, we should see the birds in the next
couple days.
