Hello all, Where else to go birding on Thanksgiving but Turkey Point? Yesterday afternoon my wife Hannah, her mother Cathy and I observed 12+ Little Gulls along a stretch of Ordinance Drive terminating at the Turkey Point marina. On one particular sandbar the Little Gulls actually outnumbered the Bonaparte's Gulls.
Regards, Robert Maciver Directions: Turkey Point is located on the shores of Lake Erie to the east of Long Point in Norfolk County. From the community of Simcoe, travel south on Highway 24 and continue on Highway 24 as it turns west. Turn south at Turkey Point Rd and continue until reaching Lake Erie. Turn west on Cedar Dr and watch for Ferris St on your left. Turn left on Ferris St and then right on Ordinance Dr. There are several pathways along Ordinance Road from which you can reach the shoreline. Scan the water and nearby sandbars for gulls. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
