My wife and I crossed to Ontario SW of Shawville and then drove highway 17 to North Bay.
Northern Harrier just before Pembroke. Belted Kingfisher on Laurentian Drive in Petawawa about 300 meters south of the point, and one other flew over further along. 3 Kestrels, a number of Blue Jays and Black-capped Chickadees flew over. 1 Common Loon in one of the bays along the river. In the first picnic area past Deep River a pine marten gave good views and photos. At the Matawa sewage lagoons, Mallard, Wood & Black Duck, Green-winged Teal, 12+ White-crowned Sparrows, 6+ YR Warblers, (no other warblers) and Gray Catbird. (From highway 17, take the main street and then the second left after the bridge beyond the large church. Follow the through road to the gate that overlooks the lagoons.) There were many Turkey Vultures, but high above them an adult Golden Eagle soared through going east. In North Bay on Lakeshore Drive more WC Sparrows and YR Warblers, 2 Ravens and Hairy Woodpecker.
