Birder's

I just had a juv. Harris's Sparrow (1130-Sept 26/10). It was hanging out with a
Savannah Sparrow near Third Line E & Great Northern Rd. If you take the small
road just to the south of Great Northern Rd to the east. ( If you are heading
N on GNR it is to the right 75 yards before you hit 3rd Line)it leads by a
large field and a weedy area. After about 100 yards you will see a detention
centre to the south and a older nursing home to the north. In front of the
nursing home is a circular turnabout and a grassy area that looks a bit like a
courtyard. It was feeding in this area and was there when I left 20 minutes
ago. Hopefully it will end up at my feeder which is about a block away. This is
a surprisingly infrequent visitor to the Soo. It is seen yearly at Whitefish
Point about 40 miles away as the crow flies but this is my first in Algoma.
There was a previous record at a feeder a few years ago and I suspect others.
There has been a large movement of Sparrows recently with large numbers of
Harris's Sparrows being seen in the western UP of Michigan.

I got several decent pics which I will forward to the OFO photo page.
