Hi all
The Little Blue Heron was present last evening off Richmond Rd, West of
Cornwall.
I went to see it with Hervé Tremblay. The bird was not in sight when we
arrived around 6:30PM. At around 7:00 it flew up from behind the cattails,
circled around and perched high in a deciduous tree near the Great Egret roost
where 5 or 6 Egrets had already arrived. It stay there until about 7:30 when
it took flight, circled around for a while in company of 3 Black-crowned
Night-Herons, and they all disappeared flying East; we had not seen them return
when we left around 7:45 (it was almost dark). There were about 25 Great
Egrets at the roost at that point.

Directions from Ottawa:
417 East to exit 58
138 South to St. Andrews
West on CR 18 which becomes 36 to Richmond Drive
South on Richmond and just past the RR tracks to the very small parking area on
the right. Short walk on the trail starting at the parking spot, along the
tracks, to the marshy area. Apparently the bird is wary and goes into hiding
when disturbed.
