It was a marvelous day for the TOC Durham Fall Field Day Sunday. A near
record 160 species were found including the long-staying White Pelican at 2nd
Marsh in Oshawa. Eleven all time high species records were set for this 77 year
old event. The 12 species of butterfly represented a new high although there
were no rarities.
A major fallout had occurred at Hydro marsh where some groups had as many as
15 warbler species to go along with the Long-billed Dowitcher and 6 Stilt
Sandpipers etc. Off Thickson Woods Glenn Coady added a new species for his yard
list with a Sabine's Gull out on the lake.
Many thanks to Brian Henshaw for hosting this event in his usual capable
fashion. We are awaiting results from other roundups held in the city on the
same day.
