Highlights of reports received September 6 through September 16 from the Niagara Frontier Region include DICKCISSEL, CONNECTICUT WARBLER, EARED GREBE and BUFF-BR. SANDPIPER.

In the Town of Amherst, September 11, a very rare DICKCISSEL at Amherst State Park. Found in the goldenrod field just west of the wooden bridge, the bird has not been relocated.

Another rare find, September 10 at Tifft Nature Preserve in Buffalo, a CONNECTICUT WARBLER at the west end of the Warbler Walk Trail. The CONNECTICUT WARBLER was one of 20 warbler species in the preserve. Also at Tifft, RED-HEADED WDPKR. at Lucy's Pond, 2 YELLOW-B. FLYCATCHERS, BLUE-HEADED VIREO, WARBLING VIREO, PHILADELPHIA VIREO, RED-EYED VIREO, NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD, LINCOLN'S SPARROW and 5 ROSE-BR. GROSBEAKS.

A BOS field trip through Tifft Nature Preserve on the 12th reported 60 species including BALD EAGLE, PEREGRINE FALCON, 2 YELLOW-B. FLYCATCHERS, RED-BR. NUTHATCH, WINTER WREN, MARSH WREN, RUBY-CR. KINGLET, BL.-GR. GNATCATCHER, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, BROWN THRASHER, 12 warbler species, SCARLET TANAGER, WHITE-THR. SPARROW, ROSE-BR. GROSBEAK and BALTIMORE ORIOLE.

September 14 at the Batavia Waste Water Plant, 2 EARED GREBES, plus 60 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 6 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 27 RUDDY DUCKS, 13 GREAT EGRETS including one that was banded on Lake Huron, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 31 LESSER YELLOWLEGS and 16 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS. The plant is on Industrial Blvd. off Route 33 in Batavia; visitors are welcome and must sign in at the office.

In Ontario, still good count of 5 BUFF-BR. SANDPIPERS with 15 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS at #424 Feeder Road near Rock Point Provincial Park in Dunnville. At Rock Point, MERLIN, WARBLING VIREO, PHILADELPHIA VIREO and 9 warbler species including NORTHERN PARULA.

The night roost of GREAT EGRETS continues in the Iroquois Refuge, 151 GREAT EGRETS on September 7 on Feeder Road north of Route 77. At Kumpf Marsh, also on Feeder Road, 9 BLUE- WINGED TEAL, 2 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 5 NORTHERN PINTAILS and 23 LESSER YELLOWLEGS. BALD EAGLES continue in the Iroquois and Tonawanda Areas.

On the upper Niagara River, GREAT EGRET numbers are dropping at Strawberry Island, 22 on the evening of September 14.
