Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 15:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter: Rob Payne

Observers: Jeff Schultz, Raburn Howland

Visitors:
Thanks to many visitors today including Fred Kirn, Rodney Laura, Jim Maki,
Jim Lynch, Darlene Freidman, and Pat Mulawi.

Weather:
Light, but consistent northwesterlies pushed a good number of birds through
today.

Raptor Observations:
88 raptors of 8 species was a nice early season total. Red-tailed hawks
made an impressive passage with 30. They are on track for a great season
after a few years of low numbers. 22 sharpies is on the low side and they
will definitely be steadily increasing as this next week progresses.
Today's late passage of turkey vultures was noteworthy with 16 in one hour,
as were 3 peregrine falcons which are approaching their peak passage window
here.

Non-raptor Observations:
A summer tanager was a rare bird to find near the boat launch. This
species' appearance during fall is especially unusual as they are more
typically found some years during May. A pectoral sandpiper flew over.
