Saturday July 2, Am. White Pelican on its usual log across the marsh from
the platform by the GM building, roosting and preening.

There is a gravel lane with a gated and locked entrance east end of the
bridge on Col Sam Dr, east side of the water treatment plant. The lane runs
up the west side of the marsh to the lake. We walked up that way to see if
there was a better view. Lots of wildflowers and butterflies along this
lane, swallows, kingfisher, empidonax flycatchers, downy w.p., numerous
swamp sparrows singing energetically, some good breaks for viewing terns,
swans, ducks, moorhen. Just before arriving parallel to the pelican's
roosting spot between noon and 12:30 pm the pelican took flight and flew
west along the lake shore. Great view as it headed past us.
