My wife and I saw the Am. White Pelican at Oshawa Second Marsh at
12.00 noon - 1:00pm, today, from the viewing platform. For some of
the time, it was preening and it showed a good profile in bright
sunlight.
Without a 'scope, we could not clearly identify any of the ducks on
the far shore. As others have reported, there are loads of Gt Blue
Herons there. Where do they nest - somewhere nearby?
Most gulls and terns were too far off to identify easily by binos,
but several Swamp sparrows and Marsh wrens sang lustily in the marsh
in front of us. Several Common Yellowthroats were also singing
around the viewing platform.
A lone Osprey was hovering and fishing, successfully.
