I have lived besides the Gatineau Park all my life, as a young person, I can remember the call of the Whip-poor-will from just about anywhere along the Mountain Rd. Since the mid-eighties, for more than twenty years, I have not heard its night time call, the Whip-poor-will had completely disappeared from the mountains. Tonight, I can hear a Whip-poor-will calling, this is the first time in all those years, hopefully this is a positive sign that the bird is re-establishing itself back to an area where it once was.
