Ken Burrell has just called to report a possible Western Wood-Pewee on Pelee Island. He initially heard the bird calling this morning at 10:30 am while leading a bird tour on Fish Point. He did not recognize the call but thought it sounded sort of like the last note of an Olive-sided Flycatcher call with a little Kingbird mixed in. After his tour he immediately checked recordings and it sounded similar to calls of Western Wood-Pewee. He went back and was able find and photograph a silent Wood-Pewee at the exact location. He and Graeme Gibson are now back at the location trying to relocate the bird.
If anyone is able to try checking it out here are the directions: Park at Fish Point parking lot, walk to beach and go south about 150m. Ken will mark in the sand the location where it was last seen. Good Luck, Mike Burrell [email protected] _________________________________________________________________ 30 days of prizes: Hotmail makes your day easier!
