Hey Birders,
A fairly slow day, but with some good sightings! A young male Summer Tanager
was seen along the beach around 8am 2-300m. north of the tip at Fish Point. A
male Prothonotary Warbler found yesterday was still present this morning, also
at Fish Point. A Yellow-throated Vireo (likely the same bird for the past 3
days) was also present near the tip of Fish Point.
A Louisiana Waterthrush was seen yesterday evening at Lighthouse Point by Mark
Field et. al. bringing the island warbler total for yesterday to 26 species.
Shorebirds are still around the fields off Ruggles Run and Henderson Roads.
Similiar numbers as yesterday are present; 220 Black-bellied, 30 Semipalmated
Plovers, 300+ Dunlin, 1 Short-billed Dowitcher, 2 Least and 2 Semipalmated
Sandpipers, and 11 Ruddy Turnstones. With more rain in the forecast, these
spots should hopefully produce something good!
Good Birding,
Ken Burrell
