Bird Studies Canada is looking for a summer field assistant to help with our 
long-term Hooded Warbler project. This is a summer student position (funded 
through the Canada Summer Jobs Program) so all applicants must be under 30 
years old, enrolled in school and returning to school this fall. A job

Species at Risk Interns

Bird Studies Canada is seeking up to 2 motivated individuals to participate in 
a long-term Hooded Warbler research project in southern Ontario, near Long 
Point. The positions are full-time and will include some weekends. Applicants 
must be returning to school in September.

Duties will include: searching for territorial males, nest searching, nest 
monitoring, bird banding, colour-band resighting, data entry, landowner contact 
and various other duties with Bird Studies Canada.

Desired skills include: songbird identification (especially by song), nest 
searching experience and computer skills.  Access to a vehicle for 
transportation to and from the field sites is an asset (mileage reimbursed). 
Applicants should have a strong work ethic, an appreciation for bird 
conservation and research, be able to work independently, get along well with 
others, and keep organized and detailed field notes. Applicants must also be 
physically fit and be willing to work in the field (where Poison Ivy, ticks and 
mosquitoes are abundant) for long periods of time, both by yourself and with 
others. Accommodations at Long Point Bird Observatory's Field Station may be 
provided.

Timeframe: 20 May - 15 Aug 2010.
