Good Morning Birders!

And so it begins! Many new migrants are popping up all over the park this
morning. Last night, radar showed lots of migration across the lake and
were are sure seeing it here this morning.

At the Tip, there were strong south winds and some reverse migration was
noted. Red-headed Woodpeckers were easily seen, amongst the blackbirds and
Baltimore Orioles that were flying south. Indigo buntings were also
reported. I was lucky enough to come across a lovely, male Blue-winged
Warbler., just north of the shuttle loop - he was singing up a storm for a
little while and got some great views. In addition, Warbling Vireos and
Wood Thrushes were singing up a storm.

Hooded Warblers have shown up today as well. One was reported from Tildens
Woods at the bridge and I found a nice male south of the Visitor Centre on
the Woodland Nature Trail. An Eastern Kingbird was hanging around the
Visitor Centre transit loop this morning.

There was good birding in the north part of the park this morning as well.
In the Blue Heron/Marsh Boardwalk area, Cerulean & Magnolia Warblers were
spotted, along with Least Flycatcher, Lincoln's Sparrow, White-eyed &
Warbling Vireo, Red-headed Woodpecker and Gray Catbird. There were also
fleeting glimpses of a sparrow, which may have been a Henslow's. A
Cerulean Warbler was also seen along the Centennial Bike Trail, just north
of Dunes picnic area - this bird was fairly low to the ground and singing
quite a bit.

I'm sure that there will be more reports coming in as the day goes on. I'm
going to get out and do some more birding myself. I will be passing the
torch to the Hike Leaders from the Friends of Point Pelee tomorrow - they
will be bringing you our daily updates until May 16th. Don't forget to
follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/PointPeleeNP or

Good birding everyone - and Happy Spring!
