This morning there was 35 Little Gulls in the marsh hawking insects and 
performing courtship displays. Most left for the lake by 9am.

Gulls/terns: 1375 Bonaparte's Gulls (932 at 2nd marsh, 443 at Darlington P.P.) 
,7 Caspian Terns, 2 Common Terns and 2 Forster's Terns

Loons: 1 Red-throated and 5 Common Loons in the lake just offshore of the marsh.

Waterfowl (16 species) including 109 Green-winged Teals, 38 Northern Shovelers 
and pair of Ring-necked Ducks. Several hundred Long-tailed Ducks and 
Red-breasted Mergansers offshore with small numbers of Greater Scaup, Common 
Goldeneyes and Buffleheads.

Shorebirds: 9 Killdeer, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Dunlin. 1 Pectoral Sandpiper 
and 1 American Woodcock

other species: 1 Virginia Rail, 3 species of warblers including 1 Black and 
White Warbler(in Darlington P.P.). Wood Thrush,and 5 species of Sparrows

April 24, and 25 2010 (Saturday/Sunday) – Little Gull Viewing weekend at Second 
Marsh, from dawn to 10:00am (rain or shine)

Directions

Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on
Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow
to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot
close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the NW corner of
the lot.
