Ian Mitchell reported a flock of 3-5000 birds passing over his property
south of Hawkesbury this morning. They were coming from the northeast so
they may have roosted along the Ottawa River east of Hawkesbury at Chute a
Blondeau or Voyageur Park.

Following the early migration in mid-March, there have not been significant
flocks present in Eastern Ontario.

In the past week, the following have been noted:

• 2-3000 birds along the South Nation River east of Chesterville; north and
east of County Road 9

• 1,000 in Glen Robertson, just west of Hope-Ouimet Road and north of Glen
Robertson Road (#10)

• a large flock on a pond southwest of St Isidore

• 25 west of North Lancaster

• hundreds north and east of Williamstown

• 750 at Morewood

Most of the birds reported are Greater Snow Geese but there are quite a few
blue morph birds now in the flocks at Chesterville and Hawkesbury. These
are likely Lesser Snow Geese. White birds of the Lesser subspecies will be
harder to pick out.
