A nice drive around Luther Marsh area this morning produced some new additions
to the area. The ice on the ponds is slowly melting so today I was able to find
NORTHERN SHOVELERS, GREEN WINGED TEALS, NORTHERN PINTAILS, COMMON MERGANSERS,
AMERICAN WIDGEONS, TRUMPETER SWANS, MALLARDS and CANADA GEESE. I also spotted a
NORTHERN SHRIKE at the corner of concession 6-7 and sideroad 21 -22 at 7:45 am.
A female NORTHERN HARRIER was in the same area. There were three SANDHILL
CRANES at 8:46 am on E W Luther Township Line in between country road 15 and
12th line and also on 12th line was the addition of BROWN-HEADED COWBIRDS. I
would find them mixing in with the flocks RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS and ROBINS.

Directions to Luther Marsh area from Orangeville:

Head SW on HWY 9 (wellington Road 109) then head north on HWY 25 until Con 6-7
at which point you head west. Con. 6-7 will end at sideroad 21-22 at which
point you head north. All ducks were seen from this corner up to Monticello on
the west side of the road. Everything was visible from the road.
