At 1:30 pm today, I saw a flock of 12 Bohemian Waxwings feeding on the berries
of a Mount Batten Juniper in the front yard of the house at 14 Birch Avenue on
the east side of Highway 50 in the village of Palgrave north of Bolton. Also,
the birds perched in the high-level trees in the backyards of 14 and 21 Birch
Avenue. In low light during this snowstorm, the birds did look like chubby
Starlings perched high in a tree until I put my binoculars on them.
At 2:30 pm today, I found one Snowy Owl in a ploughed field across from the
house at 60 Aileen Avenue north of Jane Street in King Township. This is north
of Highway 9 in the Holland Marsh.
Good Birding,
Gord Cameron
