Despite savage winds out of the west this morning, I managed to track down four
PURPLE SANDPIPERS on the eastern side of Gull Island, where the rise in the
land created shelter from the winds. Also taking shelter near the east side of
the island were at least 150+ BONAPARTE'S GULLS and several dozen LONG-TAILED
DUCKS. No sign of the DUNLIN reported yesterday by Bruce DiLabio, but I did
not explore the entire island on account of the wind. A single HORNED LARK and
six SNOW BUNTINGS were also on Gull Island.
