Hello everyone: A few glimmers of the waterfowl migration are present at Andrew Haydon Park. BLUE- and GREEN-WINGED TEAL were both feeding in the cove, along with KILLDEER, a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, two LEAST SANDPIPERS, and a juvenile GREEN HERON. Further out on the Ottawa River, AMERICAN WIGEONS (4) were present among a small congregation of CANADA GEESE. Approximately 70 DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANTS were feeding in a large group way out on Lake DeschĂȘnes. Of course, the BRANT is still present, today located on the eastern duck pond (the western pond is being dredged for weeds today). After Andrew Haydon I made a quick stop at the Richmond sewage lagoons. Two of the three cells are high with water. On these two cells were a dozen or so GREEN-WINGED TEALS, MALLARDS, AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, seven HOODED MERGANSERS, and an early female COMMON GOLDENEYE. Three more juvenile GREEN HERONS were in the southern most cell of the lagoons. Pat DIRECTIONS: Andrew Haydon Park is located off of Carling Avenue; parking is available at the intersection of Carling and Holly Acres. The Richmond sewage lagoons can be found by following Eagleson Road south from Ottawa towards Richmond. The lagoons are a small parking area on the left side of the road, right before crossing over the railroad on the outskirts of Richmond. _________________________________________________________________ Click less, chat more: Messenger on MSN.ca http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9677404_______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
