A Buff-breasted Sandpiper was seen briefly this morning, Sunday Aug.30th, at
the far eastern edge of the Solina Road sodfarm but was not refound
subsequently. Numbers of more common shorebirds however remain good,
supplemented by a troupe of about 12 moulting adult American Golden-Plovers
flying in about noon and staying most of the day. There are still over 100
Killdeer, several Black-bellied Plovers and Lesser Yellowlegs, and a few
Semipalmated Plovers and Least and Semipalmated Sandpipers. The owners of
the sodfarm are trying to drain the flooded area, but hopefully the ponds
will last another day or two.

Directions:
Hwy.401 to Courtice, east of Oshawa. At Exit 425 go north on Courtice Road
to Hwy.2, where Courtice Road is closed for roadwork, so you have to turn
anyway. Turn right, east, on Hwy.2 for 1.5km, then north on Solina Road. The
sodfarm is about 3km north of Hwy.2, on the east side of Solina Road.
