A birder colleague, Randy Smith ([email protected]), reported to me this evening that he had seen a juvenile Magnificent Frigatebird, flying over Chemong Lake. It was seen at 11:30 a.m. this morning from Gifford Drive on the west side of the lake, flying towards the southwest. He was working outside for the day and continued to look for the bird returning without any luck. Randy is a competent birder and has seen many frigatebirds in his life.
To reach Gifford Drive go north from Hwy115 on Hwy 7 to Fowlers Corners. Continue north on Cty Rd 26 (Hwy 7 turns west) and turn right on Clonakilty Line. This road becomes Gifford Drive.
