Yesterday, May 31, three of us (Roy Allen, Pat Marsden and myself) birded the
Carden area. About 2pm, a Loggerhead Shrike was found close to Rockview
Road. It flitted between several hawthorne bushes ranging from 50 to 75 yards
from the road. It was subsequently joined by another Shrike, both perching in
the open for about a minute, then flying off together.

Directions: Starting from Kirkfield (in Victoria County, on County Road 48,
east of Hwy 12), proceed west on County Road 48 to the first road, Rockview
Road. Turn left (south) on Rockview Road until you come to the first road on
the right (west) - about 2km from County Road 48. This road is not marked on
the MapArt Ontario Road Atlas, is unsigned but leads to a landfill site.
Proceed further south on Rockview Road about 0.5km. Scan the field containing
hawthorne bushes on the right (west) side of the road.
