At 12 noon, there were 60 Red Knots in superb breeding finery, plus 1 Ruddy
Turnstone, 200 Black-bellied Plover, 40 Semi Sandpiper, 20 Least Sandpiper,
1 Killdeer, 10 Bonaparte's Gulls at this Hillman Marsh-like wetland.

Managed under the Wildlife Partners Program, Kaiser Crossroad wetland is 20
kms. east of Picton linking County Roads 7 & 8 on bucolic Pleasant Point
peninsula. Excellent for waterfowl as well, the wetland is much more
accessible and perhaps more species-rich than Sanctuary Pond, Amherst
Island.

At nearby Cape Vesey there is a large colony! of Rough-winged Swallows, plus
nesting Northern Raven and Osprey.
