I'm posting this on behalf of Kim Jaxa-Debicki, Wasaga BeachPiping Plover
Stewardship Coordinator.

We're excited to announce that Piping Plovers have returned again this season.
Currently we are all gearing up for a busy summer –so far, two nests have been
established but as many as seven individual birds have been identified and are
being monitored for location preferences and breeding behaviour.
Our first nest is scheduled to hatch the 2nd week of June, and as the weather
warms the beach is getting busier. We (and of course the birds) need your help!
Volunteering as a Piping Plover Guardian is a unique opportunity to be involved
with monitoring and protecting one of North America ’s most endangered birds.
·Volunteers will spend time on the beach watching, monitoring and protecting
the piping plovers, their habitat, their nests, and the young
·Educate the public about these rare birds and the efforts underway to protect
them
Anyone interested in volunteering for the 2009 season, or anyone interested in
learning more about the piping plover and the program are asked to attend our…

Piping Plover Volunteer Information and Training Night
When: Thursday, June 4th 6:30pm

Thank you all for your interest; We look forward to a successful summer on the
beach and working with you all in the near future. This program… and the
recovery of this species, is unique in that it is completely dependent on a
dedicated team of volunteers. Thank You!
