In contrast to the incredible number of Whimbrel at the Col. Samuel Smith
Watch
in Toronto, I was only able to find 1 single Whimbrel today between Jaeger
Rocks in Fort Erie and Morgan's Point in Burnaby. From 0630h to nearly
noon, nearly every access road to the Lake Erie shoreline was covered. This
lone bird was loafing on a rocky area just off shore with
numerous Ring-billed Gulls at Point Abino just west of the old lighthouse.
Jean and Blayne Farnan joined me in time to see this lone migrating bird.
