The suspected clay-colored sparrow i first observed yesterday has been
confirmed based on photos and observation by another birder this morning.
Thanks to the many who responded to help ID this bird. It's an unusual bird as
it's song is not consistent with a typical song. It sounds like a
deeper-pitched version of a chipping sparrow call.

The bird was observed again this morning at sunrise, and by myself at 12:15pm
this afternoon. At both times it was still singing actively at the tops of the
spruce trees just north of the gate (same location as yesterday). I got some
better/sharper shots today - which i can post tonight. Unfortunately i don't
have equipment to record the interesting call.

There are many other sparrows around the area (white-crowned, chipping,
savannah, song), but this appears to be the only bird singing consistently from
these spruce trees.
