Hi Ontbirders,
While birding this afternoon, 11 May, in the west end of Ottawa Debbie
Campbell and I stopped at the Shirley's Bay parking lot/boat launch at the
end of Rifle Road. At 1:15 PM we observed a group of three male and one
female Surf Scoters. We were standing on the raised ground to the right of
the boat launch and observed the scoters in the vicinity of the Shirley's
Bay dyke to the left of the two islands at the outer end of the dyke.
Happy Birding,
Peter Campbell
Ottawa, Ontario
Directions: From the Queensway (Hwy 417) just west of the northern

Avenue where Moodie Drive ends. Turn left on Carling Ave. and go westerly
to Rifle Road (with the DND signage for the Connaught Ranges). Turn right up
Rifle Road and drive to its end at the Ottawa River where there is a parking
lot and a boat launch.
