Eleven OFO members braved getting out of bed at 4:45 A.M. and sub-zero 
temperatures to view Sharp-tailed Grouse on their lek. One count put the number 
at between 30 and 40 birds. 

66 species were observed on Manitoulin Island from Friday to Sunday. Some were 
observed by the group and others by individuals as they traveled to our meeting 
place.

Sandhill Cranes flying and feeding in the fields were easy to observe. 

Other highlights included a mixture of  lingering winter species and early 
spring arrivals.  
There 10 bald eagles of various ages seen together at the Causeway between Lake 
Wolsey and Campbell Bay. Also seen there were Great Blue Heron and Double 
Crested Cormorants, 4 Tree Swallows  and a Glaucous Gull and a flock of Snow 
Buntings. 

A Hoary Redpoll was seen at Bridal Veil Falls along with Common Redpolls and 
Pine Siskins. 

Several American Woodcock were heard and one was observed. A Wilson's Snipe was 
also heard. Eastern Meadowlarks were also seen.  

Finally Wild Turkey, Ring-necked Pheasant and Ruffed Grouse were seen to round 
out this family.
